Sportscape Education: 2024, a year of great achievements for coaching apprentices - here’s to 2025 and our new courses including Level 1
As 2024 draws to a close, Sportscape Education proudly reflects on a year of significant achievements, all aimed at empowering apprentices and paving the way for their success in diverse career pathways. From launching new programmes to building strong partnerships, this has been a year of growth and innovation, writes Head of Education, Millie Jones.
Key milestones achieved in 2024
Teaching Assistant apprenticeships: This year, Sportscape Education welcomed its first cohort of Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentices.
With expert tutors who bring vast experience in primary education, SEN, and PE leadership, apprentices have been well-supported through a carefully structured blended learning approach. Online lessons, in-person sessions, and on-site observations have ensured apprentices get the guidance they need while balancing their busy schedules.
Expanding apprenticeship programmes: Over the year, we delivered training across six different apprenticeships. Highlights include:
Level 2 Community Activator Coach (CAC): Achieving a 100% pass rate, with an impressive 80% of apprentices earning distinctions.
Growing Cohorts: We currently have 25 apprentices in training, excluding new cohorts launching in January 2025 and those who have completed their End Point Assessments (EPA).
Supporting Functional Skills: Sportscape has championed apprentices’ development in functional skills. This year alone, more than 1,366 questions were answered on Century for Maths, reflecting the dedication of our learners and staff.
Collaborative CPD Events: In partnership with organisations like Rich Nutrition, The Wingate Centre, Cheshire Police, and UHNM Charity, we hosted several Continuing Professional Development (CPD) events, enriching both apprentices and employers with valuable knowledge and skills.
Sports Partnerships: We proudly collaborated with Coventry City FC and Walsall FC Academy to deliver the BTEC programme to three cohorts of scholars, further solidifying our role in sports education.
Looking ahead to 2025
Sportscape Education is set to build on this year’s momentum with exciting plans for 2025:
New Qualifications: Early in January, we’ll introduce additional qualifications starting at Level 1, available to learners aged 14 and above.
New Cohorts: Two new groups will commence in January: Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor and Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeships.
EPA Success: All current apprenticeship standards will progress through End Point Assessments in 2025.
March Open Morning: On March 22nd, we’ll host an open event to showcase our programmes and connect potential apprentices with employers, helping them find their ideal pathways.
